The Honourable Muhammad Yaseen

Alberta Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism

The Honourable Muhammad Yaseen is Alberta’s Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism and the elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Calgary-North. Appointed Minister on June 9, 2023, he previously served as Parliamentary Secretary for Community Outreach and Associate Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism.

With a professional background spanning over 40 years in Alberta’s energy sector—primarily with Imperial Oil—Minister Yaseen is an accomplished engineer with deep expertise in reservoir engineering, joint ventures, and energy infrastructure. He holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming, a Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is a registered member of APEGA.

Minister Yaseen has long been an active community volunteer, supporting organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross, Pakistan Canada Association, United Way, and the Calgary Food Bank. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to community service.

Fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi, he brings both global insight and grassroots leadership to his portfolio, promoting inclusive immigration policies and multicultural engagement across Alberta.
